- Role of end users in waste prevention and separate collection
- Do not discard this battery with household or mixed waste. Hand the vehicle or the removed pack to an authorised treatment facility, a VOLTA service partner or a municipal collection point. Separate collection is what lets the cobalt, lithium and nickel in this pack re-enter production instead of being lost.
- Separate collection, take-back and collection points
- Free take-back at every VOLTA service partner and at authorised treatment facilities in all EU member states, with no obligation to buy a replacement. Collection points: https://volta-cells.example/take-back
- Preparation for re-use, repurposing and recycling operations
- Packs at or above 70 % state of health are assessed for repurposing into stationary storage; the passport follows the pack and its status changes to repurposed. Below that threshold the cells go to hydrometallurgical recycling, which recovers cobalt, nickel and lithium for new cathode material.
- Safety instructions for handling waste batteries
- Treat the pack as live at up to 455 V. Do not open, crush, drill or immerse it. Insulate the terminals before transport and carry it as UN 3480 / UN 3481 dangerous goods. Isolate a damaged or swollen pack outdoors and call the emergency number on the rating plate.
- Meaning of labels and symbols
- Crossed-out wheeled bin: collect separately, never with household waste. Li: lithium-based chemistry. CE: conformity with the applicable EU legislation. The QR code on the pack resolves to this passport.
